Slack removes message invites in DM feature over harassment concerns

Slack rolled out a new cross-organizational direct messaging component and hours later disabled the discretion to send a communication alongside an ask due to concerns that the component could be used to send insulting communications or empower harassment.

According to TechCrunch with Connect DMs "employees at more than 74000 organizations and counting can now securely direct communication anyone – within or outside their company.’ The component is opt-in not opt-out and if the IT admins dont turn the component on their users wont be able to whichever send or take DMs through the new method TechCrunch reports.
